My son and I had the wonderful opportunity to watch & review the new award-winning Netflix Original CGI animated children's series, Bottersnikes & Gumbles before it aired, we give it four thumbs up; definitely Mombie Approved! The series raises awareness taking a creative stance on environmental issues, highlighting how two different groups of creatures have an environmental impact.
Bottersnikes and Gumbles follow three young, adorable, fun characters Tink, Bounce, & Willi that love to play. Gumbles live in harmony together, love to share, keep a nice, neat home; respecting their environment. Gumbles try to avoid unpleasant neighbors, the Bottersnikes and a gross-smelling king living in a junkyard. These hilariously unique characters have big personalities and adventures!
The Bottersnikes however, naturally selfish, unfriendly, keeping everything they find in the junk pile they call home.
The TV show evolved from character's and a fantasy world as they appeared in the loved Bottersnikes and Gumbles books written by S.A. Wakefield; illustrations by Desmond Digby. The series followed interactions of two different groups of neighbors which were published in the UK and Australia from 1967-1989.
Each episode follows the three Gumbles on wacky action-packed adventures leaving the Gumbles to devise a plan to outwit the Bottersnikes.
Children will love these episodes packed with plenty of laughs, action, and suspense to bring their imaginations to life!
Simple themes are easy to understand by uncomplicated story-lines. Recommended for children six years or older. After viewing episodes with my three-year-old son, I can confidently say this show is great for ages three to five too. Bottersnikes & Gumbles grabbed my sons attention from start, and held it through each episode. My son caught the humor, and gasped in anticipation to suspense; I would definitely say he understood the subject matter well.
What Should Parent's Know?
Minimal mild gross humor (flatulence, boogers, nose hair pulling and moments of mischief). This adorable series conveys valuable messages of mindfulness, community, teamwork, and generosity; touching on the importance of telling the truth, asking for help when needed, and learning important life lessons from making mistakes.
CGI animation has improved throughout the years; Bottersnikes & Gumbles isn't falling short in this department. Bottersnikes and Gumbles phenomenal CGI animation is a beautiful treat to the eyes! Characters with realistic textures, movements that jump out at you making creatures real enough to touch (Bottersnikes creepy features) Obviously animators worked hard behind the scenes of this cartoon. I'm really impressed to see the high-quality work put into this TV series.
CAKE is one of the world’s leading children/family entertainment specialists working with animation on programs such as preschool space series Ready Jet Go! created by Craig Bartlett (Dinosaur Train, Hey Arnold!) and airing nationwide on PBS; all Angry Birds TV content based on the hugely successful gaming franchise; Emmy®-nominated Angelo Rules, now in its third season; and So Awkward, an award-winning live-action series airing successfully on CBBC in the U.K. Cheeky Little Media creates, produces and manages unique animated properties for kids and family. Mighty Nice is one of the most respected animation companies in the UK.
The Bottersnikes and Gumbles animated series has earned this year's Pulcinella Award for Best Kids TV series at the international animation festival, Cartoons on the Bay, in Venice and was nominated for a Logie Award in Australia for Most Outstanding Children's Programme.
